1) Pembrey Woods, Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK

Pembrey Woods in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK is better known for the little hatchet men. Those men used to lure ships with their lanterns close to a coast line. The coast line was surrounded by dangerous rocks and hatchet men used to wreck the ships and slaughter the survivors. They used to rob the ships this way and thus the forest was notorious for criminal activities. Gun powder and dynamite was produced in the forest. People in that area claim to have seen many ghosts roaming in the forest and the sea shore.

2) Old House Woods, Mathews Country, Virginia, USA

The forest was an active port during historical war eras. It has more of a soldier cops stories associated rather than criminal ones. But some stories tell the history of pirates, a burial ground as well. Some stories say the presence of ghostly soldiers, horses, cows, headless dogs and pirates. There are rumors of skeletons in knight’s armor wielding threatening swords roaming in the forest, a ghost ship hovering over the woods etc. However these are hard to believe stories. The woods get their name from a colonial homestead in the centre of the woods. The house once caught fire but put itself out.

3) Morgan Monroe State Forest, USA

A graveyard in the wilderness of the forest is said to be haunted by a woman. People claim that the woman dressed in black follows the passersby and cry and yell for the loss of her loved ones. She mourns for her loved ones and haunts the forests. There are 24,000 acres of abandoned farmlands. There are also some reports of strange rituals taking place in a cemetery present there named as Stepp Cemetery. Ghost hunters definitely find this forest interesting for their quest.

4) Ballyboley, Northern Ireland

The forest may or may not be creepy as some of the descriptions do not mention any such things. Some of the sources say that the forest was an ancient Druid site and also being narrated as a gateway to the otherworld. The locals of the area do not dare to enter the forest. There is fear all over because several people disappeared into the forest during 15th and 17th century never to return. Also there have also been seen trees smeared in blood, human like figures and yelling heard often.

5) Blackville, Canada

The haunt in the forest Blackville in Canada is being associated with a young cook named Ryan. It is said that he travelled to Blackville in late 19th century and found work in a lumber camp. The Dungarvon River flows beside that area. Ryan was killed by the boss one day when lumberjacks were gone. The murderer stole his money and buried him in the woods. Since that day the forest has been haunted and yelling and whooping noises are heard at night. The ghost is named as The Dungarvon Whooper who is still howling in the forest on his cruel murder.
